About The Rural Women Foundation (RWF)

It is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political voluntary group established in 1997 as a foundation whose objective is to raise the development potential of the rural poor to enable them lead a self-sustainable life in the rural community. With its focus on community development, the foundation’s  target group is rural women and girls. The Foundation acts as a "voice" for the rural women and contributes in the areas of gender inequality and to promote income generating activities for women.

The mission statement: Improve the lives of women and children in local communities through education, health, economic empowerment and social amenities.

Flavi Andrade - Lisbon

This is made possible through:

  • Training on income generating activities

  • Ensuring economic self-reliance and empowerment for the rural poor

  • Training on innovative techniques in agriculture and cottage industries

  • Creating appropriate educational and hygienic infrastructure

  • Constructing appropriate water and sanitation infrastructure

  • Creating and maintaining a revolving loan scheme for an independent economic base

  • Rural health provision and development

  • Provision of legal support for the rural women

Aline Vargas - Buenos Aires

The RWF vision: Believe in an improved society that raises the standards of living of women and children.

It feels good to be a part of this community, and through the hospitality industry, to help women who are less fortunate than we are. After all, hospitality is about caring, and as women, it’s in our DNA.  Many thanks to all the sponsors who “get it”!  Link to RWF

I’m looking forward to an informative two days!
