Trieste Cocktail Week
Cocktail Weeks are popping up everywhere, and Sharlafied decided to make a quick— and quick means 28 hours— visit to the third edition of Trieste Cocktail Week. The event, from September 9 to 15, features 23 local businesses, including 17 bars, 4 restaurants, and 2 boutiques. Main sponsors are Nonino and Proposta Spirits, and Martini will offer a Masterclass on 12 September at 040 Social Food as well as the closing event on 15 September with a Speed Round competition , Mystery Box competition, drinks list awards ceremony as well as DJ set and party.
In keeping on-trend, there will be a special focus on low- and no-alcohol cocktails to cater to evolving consumer tastes. The festival, organized by Freshmedia and Intraprendi, in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and the Trieste Convention and Visitors Bureau, Here is my list of events: Zerocento will do a presentation at Draw, then I will hop over to Contime to see what Qubì Magazine has to say. Theresianer Gin Night is next on Pier the Roof. I cap off the evening with London Night by Proposta Spirits: Three guest bartendering shifts in 3 different venues: Silk, Mast and Antica Caffe Torinese.
On 12 September it’s all about ice, when Glacielier will hold a cool masterclass at historic Caffè San Marco. Next up is the Martini Masterclass at 040 Social Food. If I have time, I will pop in to say hi to my Florentine friend Luca Manni (the Sheriff) where he will be doing a guest shift at one of my favorite bars, La Muta. It’s named after a famous sex worker who plied her trade in these premises, Her nickname Muta means, “silent” likely because she talked a lot.
Some other great bars hosting events are Antico Caffè San Marco, Harry’s Bar, and Rex Café Gourmet will present curated cocktail lists, blending traditional and modern flavors, with maps available to guide visitors.
I was hosted at URBANAUTS STUDIOS Minelli. Fully equipped studios, housed in a 19th century palazzo, offer guests an authentic Italian and incomparably comfortable living experience. In a fantastic central location, it makes it easy to explore the heart of Trieste on foot. The concept was born in Austria, originally storefronts that were converted to ground floor apartments in Vienna. Now available in Bella Italia, they are self catering boltholes for the modern traveler.
I will be sorry to miss the big closing bash on Sep 15, but such is life. Enjoy, everybody!
